01 March - D&G Nottingham Helps Brisbane Call Centre
NOTTINGHAM-based Domestic & General (D&G) is holding the fort as its call centre in Brisbane has been closed due to flooding in Australia.
The floods have affected vast areas of the country, including the Brisbane and Ispwich districts of Queensland.
D&G employees have been so moved by the recent floods, call centres in Nottingham will be taking the equivalent of around 9,000 extra calls per month on its behalf to ensure D&G's Australian customers continue to receive the best possible service.
Australia's third largest city – Brisbane – has been heavily affected by the recent floods. The worst flood in decades has hit over 30,000 properties in the area.
The devastating news has meant that staff employed at the Brisbane call centre have been affected by the floods, as well as another 5,000 business that have been fully or partially hit according to official estimates.
Tracey Burrell, HR manager at D&G in Nottingham said: "It's incredibly saddening that the people of Queensland and our employees have been affected by floods. Everyone at D&G wanted to do something to help this cause and all the staff here are on board to do what they can.
"Hopefully we've seen the worst the floods will bring but it's difficult to know what Mother Nature will do next. We'll continue to do what we can to support the victims of the flood and hope our efforts go some way to helping. Our thoughts are with our colleagues, their family and all those affected by the floods."
The long term damage caused by seasonal monsoons has affected over 200,000 people, with at least 27 dead and 55 still missing since the floods began at the beginning of November.
