Washer dryers

Things to consider when choosing your new washer dryer

Construction

  1. Freestanding – The washer dryer stands alone and is not built into any cupboards or sideboards.
  2. Built-in – The washer dryer is built between your cupboards or sideboards. A full-size kitchen door is required.
  3. Semi-integrated – The washer dryer is built between your cupboards or sideboards. A partial kitchen door is required and the control panel is on show.

Capacity

Drum capacity is measured in kilograms, which refers to the weight of the dry wash load that your washer dryer can hold.

Spin speed

Spin speed refers to how many times your washer dryer’s drum spins round in a minute. It's measured in revolutions per minute (rpm) – so a setting of 1200rpm means the drum will spin all the way round 1200 times every minute.

Wash cycles

Wash cycles are the types of programmes your washer dryer uses to do its job. They are made up of a washing cycle, a rest period, a rinse, and then a spin to remove the water. Sometimes there are multiple rinse and spin cycles to get clothes extra clean.

Energy efficiency

The energy efficiency of washer dryers is rated in terms of a set of energy efficiency classes from A to G; A being the most energy efficient, G the least.
